Who we are - What we are about
We are a group of independent specialists led by Professor Stijn Niessen and Dr Yaiza Forcada, internationally recognised veterinary specialists (DipECVIM, EBVS and RCVS), researchers (PhD), academics, educators, guest speakers, authors, consultants, but above all, people with a passion for their profession, for animals, and for their colleagues in the profession. Together, they have helped thousands of animals and their families, trained numerous veterinarians at home and abroad, and have been at the forefront of numerous publicaties, disease discoveries, and new treatment methods.
Stijn and Yaiza expect of themselves and their team of specialists what they also expect of others: to always act honestly, thoughtfully, innovatively, kindly, and independently in the best interests of the animal and their family. In practice, this means that we never impose anything and that we always try to offer various options with different advantages, disadvantages, and costs.
We adhere to the "principle of independence" and therefore are not controlled by shareholders or business managers. We will never be sold to a chain. We believe in a veterinary future for and by veterinarians and veterinary nurses.
Physical referrals - "Regular Vet remains Boss" principle
Fellow veterinarians can refer patients to our specialists at our location in the centre of the Netherlands (Houten). We currently offer general internal medicine, endocrinology with a subspecialty of diabetes, endoscopy, and ultrasound. Our approach:
- Individual: Together with the animal's family, we create a plan tailored to the individual animal.
- Independent: We believe in autonomy and independence as a means of practising the best veterinary medicine; we make our own choices based on the animal's best interests, not shareholders or managers.
- Cost-effective: Just like human medicine, veterinary medicine is not cheap. Therefore, we do everything we can to keep costs low by not having to please shareholders, conducting targeted examinations, and having procedures performed by your own local veterinarian whenever possible.
- The local veterinarian remains the boss: your own regular vet knows your animal best, is cost-effective in follow-up, and therefore better for further care after diagnosis. We can support the local veterinarian through telemedicine. After every in-person appointment, we offer one free telemedicine appointment as a follow-up. For appointments, see below.
Telemedicine - Teleradiology - Teleoncology - friendly & practical advice from a distance
Unwilling or unable to make a physical referral? Fellow veterinarians can also seek advice through a telemedicine appointment. This can concern patients with internal medicine, oncology, or medical imaging issues. Our approach is the same as for physical referrals:

- Friendly and respectful: we appreciate that life in the practice can be challenging and that one veterinarian can't know everything. Together, we know and can do more.
- Your own veterinarian remains in charge
- Reminder: After every physical referral, we always offer one free telemedicine appointment as a follow-up. This makes it even easier to continue providing care locally.

Clinical Trials - Education - Consultancy - Coaching
Our specialists care deeply about both animals and people and believe it's important to always look for ways to make the world a little better. In addition to clinical referral services, we also provide veterinary education and consultancy, conduct clinical trials of new treatment methods (always for the benefit of the individual animal), and Dr. Yaiza Forcada offers coaching services for anyone who wants to (re)discover the best version of themselves.
